Solar Panel in Lucknow

Also known as the ‘City of Nawabs’, Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, is located on the Gomti River with a population of around 3.8 million. It is also called the cultural capital of North India. The city experiences intense heat during the summer season. The electricity bill goes up a lot in summer.

Lucknow is an off-grid solar system city due to low solar awareness and ease of installation of solar panels. The average electricity bill in Lucknow in summer is around ₹3,000 INR to ₹4,000 INR as the days can heat up to 44 degrees or more. Lucknow’s off-grid solar system is filled with many solar panel companies. Electricity bills are as low as ₹1,500 to ₹2,000 INR on non-summer days.

About 45% is the off-grid market and 40% is the on-grid solar system market. This is a mixed-solar system market. In Lucknow too, people are reducing their dependence on direct grid-electricity supply and moving towards zero electricity-free homes using solar panels.

Solar On Grid System

Solar system in Lucknow

There are two types of solar systems available – “on-grid” solar systems and “off-grid” solar systems.

An “on-grid solar system” works with the power line provided by the local DISCOM (distribution company). It works only with a direct power supply and requires written consent (permission) from the local discom to install the solar system. In the case of Lucknow, the local discom is the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL).

An “off-grid solar system” does not require permission from the local discom and can operate off-grid as well as off-grid.

The electricity consumption requirement of Lucknow city is moderate with basic household appliances like fans, AC, cooler, geyser, refrigerator, etc. Hence the need for off-grid solar systems in Lucknow city. Adding a solar system can reduce electricity bills by up to 50% on non-summer days and up to 25% in summer.
